PRIOR LIVES
I RECALL ASSUMING, WHEN VERY YOUNG,
that anyone – especially adults – could draw. It was so normal; just a fancy type of writing, really. I was devastated to discover this was not true, and more than a bit frightened to possess such a singular super power.
Fortunately, I found adults who valued what I could do, nurtured my skills, and revealed that yes, one could make one's way through life as an artist. And when I worried that I would never settle on a style and career because I was interested in too many things, a voice within reassured me, "Life is too short to become adept at only one thing."
